Announced on December 21st, here comes the Vladimir Rusanov, the first new vessel of the Yamal LNG Project. The Vladimir Rusanov is an ice-breaking LNG Carrier ordered by two giants of the shipping industry, China COSCO Shipping and Mitsui O.S.K Lines (MOL).
This monster of the sea is one of the 3 sisters of MOL and China COSCO Shipping’s fleet, equipped with this ice-breaking feature making them able to navigate trough ice up to 2.1 meters of thickness.
After some exhausting trials, including ice trials, the vessel is to be delivered by the end of this December 2017 and supposed to be ready for duty on March 2018. Also, it’s important to mention that DSME engineers have been appointed to take care and guarantee the quality and safety that the construction of these ice-breaking LNG carriers, which are the first of its class, requires.
